There are several sources of the Rhine. The two largest are the anterior and the posterior Rhine. These unite at Tamis then to the Rhine.
This first section of the Rhine is called the Alpine Rhine. The section extends over 100km. In this section the water about 205 meters down the hill and that from 599m to 396m.
After about 100 km of the Alpine Rhine flows into the lake. The delta at Lake Constance is a large nature reserve.
From source to Lake Constance are no large cities on the river bed, it is a rural area.
